Repainted, brighter and safer streets for Bridgetown, Kewtown, Silvertown and Heideveld

22 April 2026

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate has commenced with road marking work on several roads within Bridgetown, Kewtown, Silvertown and Heideveld. The road marking work is scheduled to be completed by Wednesday, 27 May 2026, and will be carried out in phases across the four suburbs. Work will take place during peak hours between 07:00 and 17:00, Monday to Friday.

‘Road markings are an essential part of the City’s road network and ensure that we keep Cape Town moving on the right side of the road. The work being done by our Roads Infrastructure Management team includes the repainting and refreshing of road markings to ensure better visibility for both motorists and pedestrians. This forms part of the City’s ongoing road maintenance programme aimed at improving road safety,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

Motorists who will be driving in and around Bridgetown, Kewtown, Silvertown and Heideveld are advised to exercise caution when travelling through work zones and adhere to temporary signage.
